health in your language campaign

Why join this program?

Health in Your Language is a student-led campaign committed to making health education clear, accessible, and culturally relevant for Tampa Bay’s immigrant and refugee communities. By breaking language barriers, we help ensure that everyone has the tools to understand and take charge of their health.

Since launching, we've created 80+ multilingual infographics covering essential topics like vaccines, nutrition, hygiene, and mental health — all designed and translated by volunteers into languages such as Arabic, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Russian. We’ve partnered with organizations like the Refugee & Migrant Women’s Initiative, Tampa Bay Street Medicine, and Radiant Hands, bringing our resources directly to communities that need them most.

In addition to educational materials, we've hosted in-person workshops at refugee centers and clinics, offering presentations and Q&A sessions tailored to non-English speakers. These events not only build health literacy but also trust and connection between students and the communities we serve.

As a volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in researching, designing, translating, and/or distributing these resources. Whether you're fluent in another language, passionate about health education, or simply want to serve diverse communities, this campaign offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact, one conversation and one resource at a time.

Volunteer With Us

As a volunteer, you’ll work on creating multilingual health infographics that provide clear, accessible information to immigrant and refugee communities.

Choose your role:

  • Designer – Create clear, engaging, and visually appealing infographics

  • Translator – Translate infographics into a language that you’re fluent in

Volunteers are expected to complete one infographic per week, and you’ll earn volunteer hours for each infographic you design or translate.

After joining, you’ll also have the opportunity to get involved in our monthly in-person outreach events — sharing these resources directly with the communities we serve.
